Designing the silence of a radio

It may sound like an oxymoron, but it is really like that: designing a radio means knowing how to design silence. Recording studios must have impeccable soundproofing being able to isolate themselves from offices and common areas.

Designing soundproofed rooms is certainly a fundamental feature for any interior. Who better can offer a perfect design exercise if not the most listened radio in Italy?! The RTL studios in Cologno Monzese were the perfect opportunity to experiment and acquire the experience in soundproofing the rooms.

Starting of course from the recording studios which da also to deal with an aesthetic aspect. In fact, if the soundproofing materials are often very rough in their aesthetic performance, it is also true that in an extremely technical context such as a recording studio, no lack can be afforded. Here then the recording studio is based on a circular conformation, from whose pivot a false ceiling branches spread on. It incorporates the sound system and the spotlights. For the furnishings, it is certainly the cherry wood to return the right elegant imprint capable of minimizing the sense of alienation. The same wooden essence also recalls the choice of furnishings and sometimes of the office flooring.

The general setting of the common spaces is approaches to the brightness of the rooms, both through large windows, where possible, and through spot lighting. Achieving the maximum expression of brightness and contemporaneity is the piano bar with Corian counter.

Tiziana Fausti men’s collection

Like a respectable gentleman, the men’s department of the Luxury Store Tiziana Fausti expresses its charm and personality. On the ground floor the charm of a rigorous collection, between precious marbles and elegant surfaces. In the basement there is an underground collection, for younger customers, with an industrial interior style.

Overlooking Piazza della Libertà, in the heart of Bergamo, the men’s department of the Tiziana Fausti boutique takes place. An environment that wants to restore the personalities of the male client, on a project by the Marco Costanzi Architects studio.
The neutral and balanced entrance leads to the underground collection in the basement. An interior that reflects this young and rebellious personality with an industrial style. Exposed concrete finishes and metal display elements that renounce painting to show their rawer soul. A dynamic, jaunty setting that prefers gray tones with black contrasts. To characterize it the common thread of the metal shopping cart that identify the checkout area and go down to the lower floor.

On the ground floor, a more rigorous and elegant personality comes to life. Emperador marble floor with marked veins, which stands out for its eternal charm. The walls are glossy and black with an almost sensual note on which the linear hanging elements with elegant and precious profiles can be recognized. Retro elements are spread in the environment, with a modern and timeless taste. Old suitcases and leather armchairs alternate with waxed wooden tables with integrated display cabinets.

Between classic and contemporary

A renovated villa that maintains its rigorous and classic style without renouncing contemporary elements able to give lightness and brightness.

Project: Modulor

Site: Gorle

The match of classic and contemporary expresses its harmony in the interiors of this residence in Gorle. Starting from the living area which also incorporates an important dining table, to move on to the completely contemporary kitchen which recalls for the chromatic choice, the furnishing of the living room.

Two large windows provide natural lighting in the living room, whose warm tones of polished wooden floor are combined with the cream-white painting of all walls. A match that allows a warm taste of the room. The soften the tones is a silver-gray velvet sofa which is also combined with a pouf of the same material with a glass table. Modern style armchairs in plum-purple colour in colour range, in order to balance the perception of the environment. The inserted furnishings are essential in the design lines, but their pantographed handles are a reference to the classic style of the living area. Classic and contemporary are combined in this environment not only for the choice of style furniture but above all in the attention to detail of each of them. The medium gray shades in glossy lacquer are the TV cabinet, that occupies the void under the stairs and the vertical containing element that faces it. This is flanked by a white glossy lacquered chest of drawers that fills the part below the window, underlining its brightness. At the two ends of the same wall shelves with an important profile take place. One of them incorporates the support surface that frames the radiator. On the side, this room houses the dining area, with an important dark wooden table. To identify this area is also the lowered and spotlight false ceiling, with medium gray spatula finish. On the side wall, alongside the access to the kitchen, there is a second medium gray vertical container element and a backlit paneling.

The kitchen instead responds to an extremely contemporary setting. Arranged on the corner, it consists of a full-height part which holds the double-door refrigerator and recessed ovens. The countertop occupies the remaining part and then develops in the adjacent wall. With warm tones, it acts as a bright and chromatic interlude between the lower part in medium gray and the white wall units. The difference between the two components is also visible for the material choice of keeping the upper wall units in glossy white lacquer, as in the living area, and the remaining medium gray volumes treated opaque in order to create an elegant contrast.
