Comfort between the peaks

Realization of a fantastic high altitude apartment located in a new and modern residential complex with a breathtaking views.

Project: Studio Arch. Mario Cassinelli
Year: 2019
Site: Foppolo

The concept of the project expected the use of the same natural material of the building for most of the furniture, i.e. natural heat-treated and brushed larch. As can be seen from the images, the entrance is characterized by full-height boiserie in which LEDs for diffused lighting are inserted in lateral grooves. Towards the end of the corridor there is a console where a bioethanol fireplace has been installed which visually warms the mountain charm environment. On the side, a TV wall is covered in gray cantilevered marble and has an external backlit frame and broken-down elements covered in gold leaf. The TV cabinet follows the profiles of the gold-colored geometric graphics, which acts as a precious shape. The kitchen has a stainless steel top and a peninsula with a hob and snack table with stools. The dining table and the snack top are made up of rough tables placed side by side and part of the bark has been kept along the edges. In the rooms the larch is accompanied by opaque white lacquered wardrobes and backlit boiserie.

Modern lines in harmony with the past

Renovation of a single-family villa in a modern key in which restored ancient elements, memories of past generations, warm both hearts and the interior.

Project: Modulor
Year: 2019
Site: Bergamo

In this renovation, only the ground floor of a small villa in the Bergamo area was touched. The design concept was to combine two styles at the antipodes: the extremely modern with ancient elements in an harmonious combination. The first intervention was the elimination of the kitchen wall in favor of a totally open space environment and the stone floor was covered with a light gray Cimento mortar, however the “carpets” of warm parquet were kept. The wood, which was previously predominant, has been replaced by an extremely neutral and elegant glossy lacquer wood.

Some touches of color, such as red sofas and some decorative elements warm the house, make it cozy and comfortable and match with the medium gray of the columns and part of the ceiling. The kitchen is super hi-tech with top and table in non-plastered Basaltina, latest generation appliances from Smeg’s Dolce Stil Novo line and induction hob with a gas fire for traditional cooking. Each corner is exploited to the maximum of its capacity and possibility for the greatest storage space. So also the TV cabinet that develops throughout the niche that goes from the entrance to the fireplace area is made in glossy lacquered with a very discreet element in black iron sheet serving the television.

Some antique furniture matches this modern scenario and, in combination with the wooden rugs on the floor, make the environment more familiar. The living area is large and airy, as well as the entrance that immediately gives visual access to each area of the floor without any partition: on the right there is the dining area and on the left the part of the living room with sofas and kitchen. The corridor and the guest bathroom have also been revised: an old cabinet with sink acts as an anteroom and gives access to a narrow and long bathroom, dressed in a beautiful gray marble on the walls.

An attic to the centimeter

In this totally renovated attic, each space has been designed to make the environment airy but at the same time usable in all its parts.

Project: Paolo Demarini
Year: 2017
Site: Milano

An attic of an old railing house with a splendid view of the center of Milan. The goal was to make the environment as modern and functional as possible, recovering the original exposed beams and all the depth of the roof, the height of which descends soft from the ridge. The entrance overlooks the long and narrow living room where a plasterboard library structure accompanies the entire left wall up to the sleeping area. On the right side the sofa, designed by Maderna Salotti, has an island that can be dragged and hooked frontally to make it a double bed available to any guests. The large furniture in the living area embraces the sofa and the dining area and is characterized by large, very low and deep drawers with oversized runners. The material chosen is a textured gray laminate with a very delicate fabric texture. The same is present, in a different shade, in the sleeping area. Also here, the bedroom furnishings, from the chests of drawers to the hanger, are low and deep in order to use the most of the inclination of the attic. The two bathrooms are respectively in oak, with the back wall equipped, and in wenge.

Elegant finishes in the city

An apartment in Milano that expresses it modernity through elegant material and finishes, without giving up a touch of classicism.

Project: Arch. Angelo Manenti DMR Studio
Year: 2017
Site: Milan

A classic element such as the full height boiserie is reinterpreted in this apartment in Milan with symmetrical inserts with an irregular vein of white lacquered oak. The entrance leads to the living area with a stained wood wall unit that develops itself horizontally, creating a chromatic contrast with the light and classic-style Edra sofas. A matte Sahara Noir marble surface livens up the back wall. Its bronze veins recall the dark parquet of the living room. To enrich the room, antique furniture and waxed wood display cabinets that manage to harmonize with the contemporary style, creating elegant contrasts. The dining room with an important crystal table leads to the kitchen which responds to an extremely contemporary setting with white lacquered doors and black waxed iron inserts. Smeg’s latest generation Dolce Stil Novo series represents the vanguard of household appliances. Next to the window there is instead a glossy red lacquered coffee table that gives a point of colour to the kitchen, at the limit with the pop style. Large service cabinets in white lacquered oak lead to the night area with bedroom and walk-in closet. These are united by the contemporary and refined style of the beige leather inserts with visible stitching that cover the full height doors. Traditional materials interpreted in contemporary finishes able to define environments.

Refined matches

A classy apartment in which innovative materials match well with antiques and luxurious objects.

Project: Arch. Pierluigi Fasoli
Year: 2017
Site: Milano

A refined Milanese apartment completely renovated and made even more special by innovative choices of materials. Starting from the entrance, a subtle and discreet perimeter profile on the ceiling with internal LEDs distributes a soft and very bright light and is found in most of the rooms and corridors in the house. On the right there is a large room which hosts both the dining area and, moving your gaze towards the bottom, the living and relaxation area. The combination of the central round table characterized by a particular laying of the wood and the sumptuous upper crystal chandelier with the very modern black wall in black MDF shaped with a wave effect is interesting. Equally modern are the niche shelves that blend well with the elegant sofas and, in reference to that of the dining area, another black wall become the back of a television hanging on the wall.

The hidden door in the wall covered in black MDF gives access to a private study, where a classic piece of furniture has been recovered and white painted to lighten the environment. White is the color that prevails inside the apartment and tends to visually make all the spaces available even wider. For the kitchen and the cupboards of the corridor, the chosen material is stained oak ribbed and it is precisely this sensorial materiality of the wood its peculiarity. The wardrobes are internally illuminated and are characterized by square and beveled handles in black waxed iron made to design, a distinctive signature of the architect. In the kitchen another particular material used is the lava stone for the top and the round serving table, on which a particular guilloche texture has been hand drawn. The ceramic knobs also take up the same graphics as the kitchen worktop and have been handcrafted. Also the table’s legs of the round table are tailor made in black waxed iron. To lighten the lower part of the very dark kitchen, the upper, high and storage cabinets have been lacquered in a glossy white.

The bathrooms where the washbasin cabinet was made of the same ribbed wood that characterizes the kitchen and wardrobes are also very elegant. A neutral dark gray ceramic material was chosen for the top, which are then combined with swanky mirrors with worked frames in gold color. The general characteristics of the apartment are therefore rigor and essentiality combined with elegance and sumptuousness in a balanced combination, all defined by custom-designed and attention to detail furnishings.
