Elegant finishes in the city

An apartment in Milano that expresses it modernity through elegant material and finishes, without giving up a touch of classicism.

Project: Arch. Angelo Manenti DMR Studio
Year: 2017
Site: Milan

A classic element such as the full height boiserie is reinterpreted in this apartment in Milan with symmetrical inserts with an irregular vein of white lacquered oak. The entrance leads to the living area with a stained wood wall unit that develops itself horizontally, creating a chromatic contrast with the light and classic-style Edra sofas. A matte Sahara Noir marble surface livens up the back wall. Its bronze veins recall the dark parquet of the living room. To enrich the room, antique furniture and waxed wood display cabinets that manage to harmonize with the contemporary style, creating elegant contrasts. The dining room with an important crystal table leads to the kitchen which responds to an extremely contemporary setting with white lacquered doors and black waxed iron inserts. Smeg’s latest generation Dolce Stil Novo series represents the vanguard of household appliances. Next to the window there is instead a glossy red lacquered coffee table that gives a point of colour to the kitchen, at the limit with the pop style. Large service cabinets in white lacquered oak lead to the night area with bedroom and walk-in closet. These are united by the contemporary and refined style of the beige leather inserts with visible stitching that cover the full height doors. Traditional materials interpreted in contemporary finishes able to define environments.

Refined matches

A classy apartment in which innovative materials match well with antiques and luxurious objects.

Project: Arch. Pierluigi Fasoli
Year: 2017
Site: Milano

A refined Milanese apartment completely renovated and made even more special by innovative choices of materials. Starting from the entrance, a subtle and discreet perimeter profile on the ceiling with internal LEDs distributes a soft and very bright light and is found in most of the rooms and corridors in the house. On the right there is a large room which hosts both the dining area and, moving your gaze towards the bottom, the living and relaxation area. The combination of the central round table characterized by a particular laying of the wood and the sumptuous upper crystal chandelier with the very modern black wall in black MDF shaped with a wave effect is interesting. Equally modern are the niche shelves that blend well with the elegant sofas and, in reference to that of the dining area, another black wall become the back of a television hanging on the wall.

The hidden door in the wall covered in black MDF gives access to a private study, where a classic piece of furniture has been recovered and white painted to lighten the environment. White is the color that prevails inside the apartment and tends to visually make all the spaces available even wider. For the kitchen and the cupboards of the corridor, the chosen material is stained oak ribbed and it is precisely this sensorial materiality of the wood its peculiarity. The wardrobes are internally illuminated and are characterized by square and beveled handles in black waxed iron made to design, a distinctive signature of the architect. In the kitchen another particular material used is the lava stone for the top and the round serving table, on which a particular guilloche texture has been hand drawn. The ceramic knobs also take up the same graphics as the kitchen worktop and have been handcrafted. Also the table’s legs of the round table are tailor made in black waxed iron. To lighten the lower part of the very dark kitchen, the upper, high and storage cabinets have been lacquered in a glossy white.

The bathrooms where the washbasin cabinet was made of the same ribbed wood that characterizes the kitchen and wardrobes are also very elegant. A neutral dark gray ceramic material was chosen for the top, which are then combined with swanky mirrors with worked frames in gold color. The general characteristics of the apartment are therefore rigor and essentiality combined with elegance and sumptuousness in a balanced combination, all defined by custom-designed and attention to detail furnishings.

Timeless elegance

An apartment in Milan with a retro charm, in which classic and extremely modern elements blend in harmony.

Project: Arch. Pierluigi Fasoli
Year: 2016
Site: Milano

Each room in this prestigious apartment has its own well-defined characteristic, but the common thread of everything is a white, modern boiserie with a burnished brass profile, which starts from the entrance and accompanies up to the rooms. In many of its parts it is equipped, takes advantage of the depths of the niches of the house’s walls, has illuminated shelves inside and become, in the upper part, a support surface for small precious objects.

A small relaxation area with a pouf that has bronzed brass legs and a dove-gray taffeta upholstery welcomes those who enter and the eye is already resting on the first room, the one of the living area.

Here, classic style sofas covered in velvet with different shades are distributed in this large room that has a high stuccoed ceilings. A television cabinet characterized by a retractable mechanism, allows you to manage the television in view or at rest via a remote control.

The dining room is instead characterized by soft gold taffeta curtains and crystal chandeliers, which are accompanied by a small velvet sofa, tables covered with burnished brass squares and splendid white sideboards internally illuminated with profiles of the same finish.

We then move on to the kitchen where a Carrara marble top is accompanied by matt white lacquers, mocha wall units and a back in bronzed mirror. An interesting detail is the worktop serving the kitchen, which extends like a peninsula from the top and has a brass profile, the same that characterizes the dining table which is mirrored in front of it. The appliances, including the hob are in white glass, to maintain a delicate chromatic uniformity.

The sleeping area has two bedrooms with their attached private bathrooms. The dominant colors of both are purple, violet and gold. It can be seen how these more decisive shades of the bed and curtains in the master bedroom perfectly match the more delicate color of the walls. In the same purple hue, the wardrobes covered in velvet on the outside and in a satin fabric with lighter shades inside, as well as the illuminated shelves. The bean-shaped petineuse in white lacquered texture with brass profiles and legs is interesting: it has two doors that can be opened on the sides and a central drawer, it can also be used as a work desk. The matching pouf has the same finishes and a purple velvet padding, that recalls the back wardrobes. In the master bathroom an old renovated mirror is illuminated by two modern side lamps. On the left side, an element with a satin steel frame, shelves and external glass doors with internal LEDs discreetly play its containing role, leaving the mirror as the main subject.

The second bedroom for a young girl differs from the rest of the apartment for its satin steel finishes that we find in the legs of the custom-made desk and in the profile of the velvet cubes back. The walls are white, as are the wardrobes in front of the bed where thin custom-made handles recall the metallic finishes of the other elements.

The second bathroom is more aggressive and modern and is characterized by a storage unit with clean lines, white lacquered, with a stainless steel profile and a light marble top. Equidistant light bulbs with steel profile have been inserted in the mirror which illuminate the room almost by day.

Last, the wardrobe room, with neutral colors and burnished brass finishes. The doors are covered in very light beige velvet, in order not to suffocate a small environment but exploited to its fullest potential. The games of reflections that are created with the full-height mirror positioned on the central column are curious.

An essential style in the architectural emphasis

Modern, bright and essential furnishings for an apartment characterized by a stylistic variety of internal architecture.

Project: CLS Architetti
Year: 2015/2016
Site: Milano

A very bright apartment in the heart of Milan, characterized by large windows and high ceilings. An essential style in the white exterior doors and windows is accompanied by a more bohemian French herringbone floor, with high doors in shaped wood and crystal and ceilings with asymmetrical stucco decorations. This mix of styles of internal architecture goes well with very modern and essential furnishings. A stainless steel kitchen without wall units is divided into three parts, two wall-mounted developments and a central island positioned in the center of a green marble spot on the floor, which is softly incorporated by an industrial-style cement-colored mortar on its sides. Equally essential is the small table at the disposal of the kitchen which overlooks a luxuriant flowery terrace. The dining table is simple and elegant and lets talk about the showy room in which it is inserted, as well as the living room, with a strictly white corner sofa and just a colorful pop touch in the sofa in front of the windows. The wardrobes available in the living area and the corridor are also discreet, internally illuminated, without handles and with neutral colors. Bathroom furnishings are much warmer, featuring wooden furniture with veined light gray marble tops. This is recalled in the stain on the floor which, as for the kitchen, seems to be slowly incorporated into the sides by a cement mortar.

Shabby chic studio loft

A shabby chic style studio loft in Milan with refined furniture and natural materials. Functionality and freshness match together in the design of these interiors with reduced spaces.

Project: Arch. Pierluigi Fasoli
Year: 2015
Site: Milan

In the Navigli area in Milan, overlooking the internal courtyard of a flat complex with railing housing units, the project of the architect Pierluigi Fasoli comes to life. A studio loft with functionality and freshness. The naturalness of Rosenheim oak meets the refinement of shapes and the attention to detail of the furniture with a shabby chic taste. The kitchen perfectly represents this accurate choices with retro-style metal handles combined with simple lines in Rosenheim oak. The satin steel countertop accompanies the doors of the slate wall units giving an industrial touch, also recalled in the choice of stools for the snack top. The white ceramic wall tiles adorn with style a functional kitchen that does not give up on style preciousness. The classic window frames of the French white wooden windows coherently fits in this room.

The living area consists of a huge corner sofa with a support table placed on the front, which is extremely simple and rough in the finishes. An illuminated display cabinet and storage elements on the backdrop use of all the voids in the room. This is how the window frames host a small bookcase with a glass door in the upper part and the shoulder of the sofa transforms into a container volume with a door opening system on the top. Functionality finds its maximum expression in the service cupboard that connects the kitchen to the day. The trapezoidal shape of this furniture creates a fresh and light dynamism, allowing the use of both full-height doors and sideboards with shelves.

The bedroom occupies the mezzanine part of the studio apartment, opening up the view of the entire room, while the bathroom is hidden below in a special room recreated inside the apartment. A bathroom with a refinement expressed in the material choice of white marble, which does not give up shabby chic details with the shaped oak wall unit.
